5 Must See Amalfi Coast Highlights
The Amalfi Coast stretches for 43 miles around the Bay of Naples. It is on many people’s must-do-list and is renowned for its natural beauty and summertime appeal to jetsetters.
Ravello
Even though Ravello is a small town along the Amalfi Coast, I’ve decided to highlight two great things to see.
Villa Cimbrone, Ravello
Ravello is a tiny town perched more than a kilometer above the Amalfi Coast. Ravello’s Villa Cimbrone is one the Amalfi coast’s top must-see places. The views are spectacular. If you are a music lover and lucky enough to be there during one of the summer concert series, then don’t miss this opportunity. The Villa Cimbrone dates back to the 11th century and is now a hotel with well tended gardens that are open to the public.
Ravello for music lovers

Sentiero degli Dei, Amalfi coast
The Seintieri degli Dei, or the Path of the Gods as it is called in English is but a hint of the views that you can expect. This extraordinary panoramic footpath can be completed in its entirety or you can choose to do shorter versions of it. I highly recommend that you bring a box lunch and get really great directions. Ideally, walkers should walk from Agerola to Nocelle, and not the other way around. This offers a more gently route, a down hill one, with magnificent views of the Amalfi Coast and the island of Capri. Alternately, we do offer guided hikes with full pick up and return to your hotel. If you choose this option, then include a stop in the lovely town of Sorrento.
Positano
Thanks to steeply stacked houses tumbling into the sea, Positano is probably one of the most photographed towns in the Amalfi coast. The crystalline sea and beaches crowd with tourists in July and August, but other months are delightful. Between April and June this exquisite stretch of coastline is carpeted with perfumed flowers. Wander the narrow lanes and alleys and explore the side streets for glimpses of real life.
Pompeii
Pompeii offers a unique archaeological opportunity when on travel to the Amalfi Coast. In this frozen in time place, you get a glimpse of Roman life 2,000 years ago. Once a thriving commercial port, this entire city was buried under 30 feet of hot mud and volcanic ash. Best experienced with a private tour guide, these well-preserved ruins are a result of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in A.D. 79.
Sorrento
Sorrento is convenient for visitors pairing the Amalfi Coasts with a stay in Naples as it marks the start of the 43-mile infamously winding coastal road that runs to Salerno. There are several attractively priced inns in Sorrento for those on a budget. I recommend the Excelsior Vittoria
